30 in 30: pistolwhip the yellow menace

#8: Pistolwhip: the Yellow Menace
Storytellers: Jason Hall & Matt Kindt
Publisher: Top Shelf
Year Of Publication: 2002
Page Count (can be approximate or in # of issues format): 134 pages

WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT WRITING / STORYTELLING:
Remember to let the images tell the story too.  This book would have 1-3 page scenes without any dialogue or captions, and it worked very well.  This is something to definitely keep in mind when writing.

WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT ART / STORYTELLING:
Incorporating the captions into the artwork is inventive, and I found it enjoyable.  It stands out and shows that the creators are thinking about the comic page and utilizing its unique storytelling aspects.  I like that.

RECOMMENDATION: B

NOTES / REVIEW / SYNOPSIS
This follow-up to pistolwhip had a more conventional, linear narrative, and the mystery put forth in the first chapter was telegraphed early on, but, to the credit of the creators, they didn’t try to tease the mystery out very far, as it was.  I’m a fan of Kindt’s work, and this book was more than enjoyable, if not as captivating as the initial volume.  Thus, the B.
